Scavenger Hunt Sunday

I'm so glad I got my act together this week and I get to participate for a second time in Scavenger Hunt Sunday! I truly love this and think it is so much fun. Once again most of the pictures below with be SOOC. :)

1. Time to Eat

2. Getting Ready

3. Playtime

This one is out of my archives because I simply couldn't go without posting this picture. I took it amongst other pictures I took for my first Scavenger Hunt Sunday, which you can find here. I thought it fit perfectly for playtime and had to use it!

4. Sweet Dreams

5. Scrub-a-Dub

When I saw this topic I wanted so badly to be able to capture a super cute tub shot. Well this week that just didn't permit. So this is right after the bath! Clearly he wasn't ready for bed yet lol.

Just like the first time I did this I had a lot of fun and hope I am able to participate next week as well :)

Origami Owl Review/Giveaway!

A Giveaway Event Brought to you By

A Taste of Something Unimaginable

Welcome to the Owl Charm You giveaway event. For a while now Origami Owl has been making amazing necklaces that are built to tell a story. Completely personalized to describe your life. I had seen pictures of these necklaces floating around on Facebook, but I did not know just how many charms there are to choose from. It took me forever to go through all the charms because I just couldn't decide on one! There were so many cute charms that could have described something about me. Once you actually receive the necklace you open the adorable box and you actually put the necklace together yourself. I was worried about this at first but it is actually really easy and fun. What I love is how truly customizable the necklaces are. You can change out your charms at any time.

It was so hard for me to pick charms! I finally decided on: a laptop, because I'm a blogger. A camera, for my love for photography. James birthstone in a heart, for obvious reasons. A heart that says family. A music note, since I've played clarinet since the third grade. Finally I choose a football since Dennis is obsessed with football! I also really liked the actual packaging it came in, I thought it was really cute :)

The independent designer who worked with us for this giveaway event was Leslie Rhoads, and you can purchase your own living locket from her website http://owlcharmyou.origamiowl.com!

Now on to the good stuff. One lucky winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to make their own Origami Owl necklace! I know you all are as excited as I am about Origami Owl.
You can win it from the rafflecopter below.

Bloggers Corner, Guest Blog Post: Laney's Ventage Place

Hello! I'm Alana (Uh Lane Uh) or you can also call me Laney (which is a nick name I answer to as well).   I am 29 years old. I'm open, straight forward, blunt, honest, kind, compassionate, I have a big heart, and a great sense of humor. Those are just a few words to describe me. (do note: I'm not afraid to show emotion and sometimes when I blog I end up making myself cry. It's what I do. I'm a sap. I cry at weddings so what do you expect. I cried all the way thru Titanic.) Anyways...I was born on Pearl Harbor Day! (and if you all have to look on a calendar or google it that then shame on you all). I am from a small town in southwest Georgia. 3 hours south of Atlanta. I'm currently waiting to go back to college come August 2013. I'm majoring in Medical Administration and I lack one class from graduating. ( long story and that's for another day and time)  I live at my parents for the time being. 2 loving parents who have been together for 35 years and married for 32. They are 2 loving Christian yet strict parents! (another story for a different day) and I have one brother who's 6 yrs younger than me and a pain in my butt but I wouldn't trade him for the world.   I enjoy reading, cooking, going to the beach/lake, shopping, collecting anything that has to do with owls (a collection I started right after my mom's mom died in August 2012) I enjoy being with my family, spending time with friends, playing with one spoiled rotten Boston terrier, taking photos, listening to music, going to church, watching the Georgia Bulldogs play during football season, and blogging.

Blogging brings me to where I am right now.  I feel as if I would be a good guest blogger because of the different variety of things I have to say in my blog. Some of you may be able to know what I'm going thru during some of my blogs because maybe you've been there.  I don't just get online and come to my blog and know exactly what I'm going to say that day. When I sit down and blog, it's usually late at night. Take for instance, right now. It's 2:36 a.m. I apparently have trouble sleeping. I call myself a night owl. I can't sleep unless I take some kind of sleep aid. Benadryl, Tylenol pm, melatonin or whatever.  Sometimes that doesn't even help. Anywho....as I was saying....I tend to blog more at night because that's one reason why I can't sleep. Because I have way too much going on in my head. I think too much. I over analyze everything. But, hey...what female doesn't? I think entirely too much, and I am a worry wart. If I tend to blog during the day say at 2 p.m., I'll have a short post that won't even amount to anything so why bother posting. That's how I feel anyways.
I plan to bring as much as I can to this monthly blog. I speak from my heart. Rather it's about family, love, my faith and love in Christ, or just venting because I have alot weighing me down. I let things get to me, and I worry too much. (like I said.)
I blog because I'm able to get my feelings out on paper. I blogged for 5 yrs on xanga.com and I have 1 friend who only comments there and uses xanga, but that's fine. I want more feedback. I want more advice. I want more opinions, thoughts from others, concerns, questions, answers, and so much more. I want to be able to pour my heart out on paper and in some way I may be able to help someone that's going thru something. One of my blogs may bring something out in that person, that maybe they had been hiding for a while and something I said gave them hope that they could speak about it. Just like I want to make a difference in people's life rather it's someone online or in real life. I want the same thing in return. I want to be remembered as a good hearted person who would do anything for anybody and go out of their way for people.
If I ask my friends to describe me they would say I have a big heart that tends to get me hurt in the long run, I'm not afraid to speak my mind, and I go out of my way for people. It doesn't matter if I'm feeling bad that day or having an off day...I put others feelings before me regardless.  I send daily messages to my friends to let them know I am thinking of them, or if they are having a problem and I see that they need a pick me up or some kind of uplifting word I will do that. I feel as Christians, we should be there for each other and love each other and support them and do what we can for them when we can.
Yeah....you read that right. Yes I'm a Christian. I'm not afraid to show it or talk about it. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior at church camp when I was 13. I can remember the day like it was yesterday. Most of my faith comes from the love of Jesus Christ! And knowing that God is never late. He's always one time. That nothing is never too big or too small for him. The rest of my faith and strength I get from my family and true friends who are there for me no matter what!
So with that being said, I hope that I didn't bore you too much. I hope you didn't get lost because if you did....just let me know where you are and I can try to find my way to you and make it so you're not lost anymore. :D (see told you I had a sense of humor. and if you don't get it or think it's corny. Well...the more I blog....then the more you'll figure it out and understand it.) Or I could have you laughing til you're in tears one day. You never can tell with me. Or I could have you crying one day.
I'd love it if you'd follow me and read my blogs and give me feedback! All I ask is for honesty, respect, and open-ness in return! And when commenting and if I ask for advice I do ask that you don't hold anything back rather you think it may make me make. I want to know. I want people to be honest with me as I am honest with them.
:D Thanks and happy reading!

Dear James,

You are eight months old(note-blogging a bit late he was eight months February 2). I can't even believe you are this old. To me you still seem so small, yet you're so big. I can still vividly remember the early morning hours of June 2, leading up to your arrival. It still seems so fresh, so new. One of these days I should write your complete birth story so it always is fresh, and detail filled. I'm sure I've forgotten some of the minor details already but I will never forget the major moments of your eventful birthday. Fast forward 8 months and there you are. A handsome young boy with crazy hair! Yet to me you still seem so small.

I looked back at younger pictures of you recently and I cried. My baby isn't that much of a baby anymore. As you get closer and closer to being refereed to as a "toddler" I can't help but cry. My baby isn't a baby. Your hair was so dark, so thick. Your skin was so red. Your face so round. Now as I lay in bed staring at you, your not an infant. You're so old. Now that the sappy things are out of the way, James, I love this stage you're in. You can move baby! You are officially a speed crawler. It's not even like your trying to crawl anymore, YOU CAN CRAWL. Something else that is exciting is you can pull yourself up on things, to a standing position. And just today(2/11), you let go of the couch and for about ten seconds you were standing on your own. Of course once you realized what you were doing you fell, but hey, that's a start!

Your favorite thing to eat right now is....pretty much anything you see someone eating. You strive to be just like everyone else. If I'm drinking a smoothie, your drinking a smoothie. If I'm eating chicken, you're eating chicken. Something you do now, which I adore, is reach for people. If you want Grandpa, you're getting Grandpa. If you want out of your exersaucer, you now know how to express that. Sleeping is now down to a rhythm. You take two naps a day, one at ten and one at two. You fall asleep for the night by the latest 10:30. You are still addicted to pacifiers. Your favorite toy lately is the big legos. You love being able to sit on your own and play with the "big kids". You love untying everyone's shoelaces. You are OBSESSED with shoes. If there is a shoe left out where you can get it you better bet you will. You love going on walks and looking around.

You love being at restaurants. You are a huge flirt now, you love smiling at everyone. You still don't like sippy cups or water. You only get about 5 bottles a day now. You really like paper/magazines and ripping them up. I officially gave up even attempting to get you into your crib. Cosleeping is your top choice, and I don't mind it at all. I love being all snuggled with my baby. You still do not have any teeth. Although just recently it feels like we can finally feel a bump where one on the bottom is coming in, but who knows if I'm not just imagining that. You love my camera, any time I try to take pictures of you the first thing you do is reach right for it. Which has made it increasingly difficult to get good pictures of you lol.

You give kisses. If someone makes the kissing noise(and you're in the mood) you open your mouth as wide as you can and lean in. It's literally the cutest thing I have ever seen. Recently you have started having temper tantrums. If you are playing with something you shouldn't be and we take it away you let us know you didn't like that. By screaming as loud as humanly possible. You hate getting dressed and cry every single time we change your clothes. But you L O V E taking baths, and playing in the water. Which excites me for this summer when you get to swim in the pool. You love books and flipping through all the different pages. You make the "oooo" sound a lot. You are at my favorite stage right now.
I cannot wait to see all the changes that take place in the up coming weeks. I love you forever.
Love,
Mommy

Bloggers Corner, Guest Post: On A Breath

I decided a few weeks ago that I was going to have four guest bloggers on A Taste of Something Unimaginable that would post one most a month. A different blogger each week. This is the first post in this series and I am proud to announce it is from my dear friend Alicia who is the owner of Onabreath.com (an awesome blog all about mommy hood!) Below is her first post, I know you will all love her as much as I do.

Introducing yourself on a blog is always an awkward post to write, isn’t it? Patricia invited me to come guest blog here at A Taste of Something Unimaginable, and I graciously accepted the exciting opportunity...But then thought to myself, “what the heck and I going to write about?”

So I thought I’d just introduce myself and talk about how I know Patricia. My name is Alicia, I am 22 years old and I live in East TN with my husband, Jason, and my 8-month old son, Elliot. I studied French at a small liberal arts college, but now I stay at home with my little man. We focus on natural parenting, which includes practices such as cloth diaperi
ng, attachment parenting, and eco-friendly living.

I met Patricia when we were both newly pregnant through a forum specifically for moms that were due in June of 2012. We didn’t really know each other yet, but when our forum turned into a Facebook group, we connected because we’re both two of the younger ladies in the group, we were both having boys, and we were both planning on cloth diapering (lets be honest, Cloth Diaper moms are a special kind of brand!)

My personal blog is all the “remarkable experience of raising a family.” I write about cooking, cloth diapering, and parenting. I do reviews of products, and I’m starting giveaways just this week.

I’m not certain what I should blog about here, so why don’t you tell me what you would like to see from me? Favorite recipes? Raising a preemie? SAHM-survival tips? Leave a comment below and let me know what you think I should write about!

On A Breath
Love her as much as I do? Leave a comment telling her so!!!!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday!!

This is my first time doing a Scavenger Hunt Sunday! I am pretty excited and these seem pretty fun. This week all of my pictures are going to be SOOC(straight out of the camera-in other words, no editing). I hope to participate in many more scavenger hunts but for now here is this weeks!

1. The Small Things
For this one I knew I wanted to incorporate my son, since he is a "small thing", but I wasn't sure how. Lately he has been obsessed with the BIG legos, which are still small, so I decided to use both of them for this one.

2. Illustration
This was a really hard one for me. Since I am terrible, and I mean terrible at drawing I decided to take a picture of one. This is hanging in my house, it's a drawing of my dog Daisy. It was drawn by Jose Ferrer, my brother-in-law.

3. Valentine
We don't have any Valentine's Day decorations up yet so the category Valentine was a toughie, I saw this calendar and figured it was the best thing I could take a picture of.

4. Work of Art
Since I already explained I am challenged at making any form of art(besides music that is) I decided the only thing I made that I consider a work of art. My son, James. He is more of a work of art to me than anything else I have ever seen.

5. Window Beauty
This one was THE HARDEST one for me. I didn't like the way any of the pictures I took of the windows at my house. While I was playing with James I saw this little car on the ground and figured it has windows on it so it must count! So there it goes.
I had a lot of fun doing this scavenger hunt and really hope I am able to it next week as well!

Yummi Pouch Review/Giveaway!

Weather your a mom or not you've probably seen those food pouches somewhere in life. The ones that kids can squeeze and get the food right out of. I know for bigger kids they are great for on the go. Since I make my own baby food I wasn't really able to have the luxury of taking food I make with me everywhere, UNTIL NOW! Yummi Pouch has created something that is perfect for all moms. You can put whatever you want in a resealable pouch, and take it with you! It's super easy and kids love feeding themselves. On the Yummi Pouch website they actually have a lot of great recipes for snacks on the go, or you can use your own! For this review I used one of my favorite baby food recipes from their site, the mixed mango puree, which James loved!
