Friday Finds

I shall dedicate this weeks Friday Finds to all the cool things I found on Pinterest this week. Since I'm helping my friend plan her wedding that's what most of this is.
That's such an awesome idea instead of using address labels, and it's only $24!

This is such an easy idea, I'm so doing a tutorial on this soon!

Advice coasters for the bride to be. Such an easy and cute idea for a bridal shower.

Last but not least. These are the colors of Brittany's wedding, how could I not include this picture?

Happy Birthday Dad!

I have probably the best Dad in the world. Anything I ask of him he is more than willing to do. Now that James has been born he has stepped fully into the role of perfect Grandpa. Of course this isn't his first grandchild but it's my first child so the first time I've really seen him in the eyes of a mother. I'm so glad he is so involved in James life. I don't know where I would be today without my Dad. He has sacrificed so much in life just to make sure I had everything I wanted. I don't know how I could possibly express in words how much my Dad means to me. I love you Dad!

Recall Alert!

Now we all know I love the Bumbo Seat as much as the next mom but it seems there has been a recall on it. Apparently without a seat buckle the Bumbo has been the result of some skull fractures. There is a website where you can put in your Bumbo Seat's information and they will send you a new warning label along with the seat buckle to be inserted into the Bumbo seat. You can fill out that form here http://www.recall.bumbousa.com/. I already filled mine out this morning, just make sure you don't use the seat until they send you the new label and buckle. Be careful!

The Best Friend I've Ever Had

I don't know exactly how the story goes. I don't remember if she was in girl scouts first or if we met at the YMCA. But I know we bonded over our love for Pokemon while in the after school program at the YMCA. Natalie has been and continues to be my best friend, since 1998. She literally is like my sister now and pretty close to a twin. When we get together it's hard to get us to stop talking. She knows everything there is to know about me. She has always been my rock to fall on. No matter what challenging time I may have been facing she has always been there to help guide me through. When she found out I was pregnant I know there was a little bit of worry between her and I. It wasn't exactly the plan we had been discussing for years. Both of us getting married around the same time then having children at the same time so they could be best friends as well. I know her and I both worried our friendship may suffer, but I think it has done the opposite. She was there every step of the way through my pregnancy, always asking how I was doing and if needed help. During labor she was one of the firsts one there and waited to see James. Since delivering she has still been really involved always wanting to be around James. It really warms my heart that I have such an amazing best friend. I don't know what I would do without her, because truly I would be lost. I love you so much Natalie!!!!!

James Weekend of Firsts

James and I recently took a trip for the weekend to Daytona for my cousins birthday! This was a huge weekend for James. It was his first time at the beach, and first time in the pool. Of course he didn't touch the sand or water at the beach and only his feet were in the pool.
He did so good at the beach! He slept under a little half tent for most of the time and only got fussy once and was saved by Aunt Kathy with a bottle!
After returning to the house everyone jumped in the pool to get the salt off. I sat on the steps with James to cool him off since he was so hot. He didn't really enjoy the pool and was fussy the whole time but I think that was because he was so uncomfortable. I plan on trying this again sometime soon in my pool when he is in a happy mood.
What cool things have you done recently? Do you remember the first time taking your child to the beach or in the pool? Leave your answers below!

Rockin' Green Review/Giveaway

Rockin' Green isn't a secret to most cloth diaper users but it might be to the public. It, in fact, is one of the preferred cloth diaper detergents. What most people don't know is that it can be used on regular clothes as well. For cloth diapers you only need 2-3 tablespoons, but I imagine you might need more for just clothes. You only need so little for the cloth diapers because if you use more you can create a build up residue on your diapers-this is true with all detergents, not just Rockin' Green. Before doing the review for this product I had only used Tide Original Powder for my diapers, which was working okay. After trying Rockin' Green, clearly I was wrong.

Happy Two Months James!

I took my two moth pictures of James today, and I cannot believe how much he has changed :(
My newborn doesn't look so much like a newborn anymore. He wasn't in that great of a mood when I took these so I was only able to capture a few good ones.

Top 5 Baby Products:

Life with a newborn can be challenging at times but with a few essential products you can at least ease the stress a little. These are in no particular order.

1. Fisher-Price Cradle n Swing, My Little Lamb

Although I said these weren't in order this is by far my favorite baby product. James will literally spend hours in his swing each day, which is a huge life saver. I honestly don't know how I would be able to do anything if it wasn't for this swing. I realize they now have the snugabunny and if I were to buy one I'd probably get that swing, since this was given as a hand-me-down it works just fine! The only difference between the two is the snugabunny gives you the option of plugging it it, which would be nice. I love how this swing has an adjustable headrest, great from newborn to six months.

2. BumGenius Cloth Diapers

This was the first cloth diaper I ever purchased, and it was new. I purchased this after seeing it on The Eco Friendly Family. I purchased this one just to see what cloth was all about, and I fell in love. When building my diaper stash, however, I got a little bit of everything just to see what worked best with James. From the get go I should have just gotten all BumGenius. They work the best on James and by far are the easiest to use. You don't have to take the insert out before putting them in the wash which is a huge advantage over FuzziBunz. Although still not as thin as a disposable BumGenius are the slimmest I've found out of all the cloth I've tried on James. I now have 13 BumGenius and use these far more than any other brand.

3. Mam Pacifiers

While pregnant I was planning on holding off on using pacifiers as long as I could. I knew I really would rather him learn to self soothe so I was planning on waiting until he was at least six weeks old. Well just like many of my plans changed after I actually had James so did this one. Fast forward to James at two weeks old trying to pacify at the breast and you will see why I was desperate. We tried many pacifiers, including but not limited to: Avent, Soothies, Nuk and GumDrop. After leaving the hospital the pacifier they actually sent us home with was the mam. Well because I was desperate and willing to try anything mam it was, and he LOVED it! Since then I haven't looked back, we currently have about ten mam pacifiers floating around and today, 8 weeks later, he still LOVES it!

4. SwaddleMe's

Since being born James was a pro at breaking out of swaddles. I believe it was night one after birth that he figured out how to break the traditional blanket swaddle. What can I say, I gave birth to an escape artist. We would wrap him in the tightest, most secure swaddle we could and ten minutes along in the bassinet ruined it. We also knew James had colic from around week one. He just would never get comfortable enough to fall into a deep sleep, this all changed when I broke out the swaddleme's I received as a baby shower gift. I love how they have the velcro on them so there is physically no way for him to break this tight swaddle, the blanket simply doesn't move. I also love how they have tabs for laundry to prevent everything getting caught and tangled up in the wash. These now belong to our nightly routine and I believe they will for a while. The one thing I do want to give a shot however is the Aden and Anais muslin wraps, I just can't bring myself to spend around $40 on a blanket. For now the SwaddleMe's are doing just fine!

5. Similac Simply Smart Bottle

As I earlier stated James was pretty colicky since birth. We struggled to do everything we could to ease his discomfort. I noticed that a lot of the bottles we were trying would let a lot of air in with the formula. I stumbled across these bottles because I had a coupon and fell in love. The bottle features a smart close system which is to prevent leaks. It actually has a blue triangle indicator you have to match up to ensure you have the tightest possible close. It also has an easy mix option for the formula which is to prevent bubbles. There is also an air vent to let the air escape from there instead of into the babies mouth. Since switching to these bottles we have had far less gas and spit up issues and James will even sleep for 5-6 hours at a time.
